Transportation

Bus: For questions or transportation changes please call 317-852-6813

*Our transportation department utilizes the app “Versatrans My Stop” to communicate bus information to parents.  Please consider downloading the app to your phone for easy access regarding your child’s bus route.

Car:

The doors at the BECC will open 5 minutes prior to the start of school (8:45 (doors open at 8:40)/12:55 (doors open at 12:50)). Parents will be guided to the front of the building by staff.  Please only exit your child from the car if you are one of the first seven cars in the line.  The staff will notify you if you are a part of that group.

Individuals must have a car rider tag hanging from their mirror in order to pick their child up from school. If the driver does not have a car rider tag, they must be prepared to show their picture ID to the staff outside and this must be confirmed as an appropriate emergency contact with the front office.

Please see the car rider line map below to help you plan your entrance to the BECC.

Curriculum

All lessons are driven by the Indiana Early Learning Foundation Standards and supplemented by the different curricular programs utilized for ELA, Math and Social/Emotional Learning.  Curriculum programs include Handwriting Without Tears (ELA), Everyday Math, and We Thinkers (Social/Emotional)

Attendance

ILL CHILD POLICY

Children who are ill will not be allowed to attend the program. If your child has vomited, has 2 or more cases of diarrhea or has a fever, they are not able to attend school until they are 24 hours, symptom free without the use of medication.

If your child becomes ill while at the BECC, you will be contacted to pick up your child. If you cannot be reached, someone from your emergency contacts will be called. Your child may not return to the center until he/she is symptom free for 24 hours, without medication.

Please call 317-852-1046 and leave a message ON THE ATTENDANCE LINE to let the school know of your child's absence. Please contact the transportation department at 317-852-6813 to let them know if you will not require bus transportation that day.

Policy About Children Left After School

Families will be charged one dollar for every minute a child is left at the school after their scheduled class times. If the school is unable to reach the legal guardian, the school will utilize the emergency contact list provided at enrollment. If the school is unable to reach an authorized adult after thirty minutes, the school resource officers will be notified.  A suggestion would be to set an alarm on your phone to remind you, especially on the Wednesday/alternate schedule.

Communication

Brownsburg Community Schools utilize Parent Square as our main means of communication to families. The way that you are added to Parent Square is based on the email addresses that you submitted when you registered your child.  It is recommended to download the Parent Square app to your phone. This allows you to receive firsthand communication through notifications and also allows you to change your preferred language within the settings.

Every Friday you will receive communication from the preschool coordinator via Parent Square called, The Preschool Post. Classroom teachers will send their own separate newsletter with information about what is going on in the classroom. Parent teacher conferences take place in the fall and provide an opportunity to learn about your child’s progress in the classroom. You receive a report card every 9 weeks.
