Explanation of Fees
The following explains the tuition and fees at the Brownsburg Early Childhood Center as related to the special education evaluation process.
Special Education Evaluation
There is no fee associated with the special education evaluation process. The evaluation process is conducted at no charge per Article 7 guidelines. You have two options for enrollment while your child is in the process of receiving their evaluation. Option 1: Your child can start preschool the week of their third birthday or after, if you want them to start as a fee based student. Option 2: Complete the enrollment form to verify residency, but do not officially enroll your child for preschool. In this scenario, your child will come for their scheduled evaluation dates only, and a determination regarding services will be made at the case conference.
Special Education Services at BECC
At your child’s case conference, eligibility for special education services will be determined. If it is recommended that your child attend preschool at BECC to receive services, the cost of preschool will be covered for the number of days specified in your child’s IEP (Individualized Education Plan), which is discussed as a team during the case conference. The cost of transportation, if required, will also be covered. You have the option to send your child for more days of preschool than is allotted in the IEP if desired, however, you will need to pay tuition and transportation (if needed) for those days. For example, if your child qualifies for 2 days of IEP service, but you would like them to attend BECC for 3 days of preschool, you are responsible for paying the rate for one day a week of preschool. In the event your child is found to be ineligible for special education services at BECC, he/she is welcome to enroll as a fee based student, dependent on classroom availability.
Dismissal from Special Education Services at BECC
If your child’s case conference committee team determines that your student has met their goals and may no longer need services, they may recommend a re-evaluation. We are required to obtain your permission to re-evaluate your student. A case conference will be held to review the results of the educational evaluation. In the event that the case conference committee determines your child is no longer eligible to receive services your child is welcome to continue attending BECC, however, your family will be responsible to pay standard tuition rates.
We are so happy to be working with your family. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding the process.
